Gun Permits

In order to obtain a gun permit from the City of Walker, you must:

1. Be a resident of the City of Walker
2. Have a valid Michigan Driver's License or State issued picture ID
3. Have no felony convictions
4. Be at least 21 years old (to purchase from a licensed dealer), or be at least 18 years old (to purchase from an individual)
5. Be a U.S. citizen or have legal residence in this country/state

If you have any questions regarding the purchase or possession of a hand gun, you may call the Walker Police Department Records Bureau at (616)791-6812, or contact the Michigan State Police Central Records at (517)241-1917.  There is no charge for the permit itself, however there is a $4.00 notary fee (cash or check).  You can obtain a purchase permit Monday through Thursday from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

To obtain information on obtaining a Concealed Weapons Permit, please contact the Kent County Sheriff Department at (616)632-6200 or the Kent County Clerk's Office at (616)632-7662.  The application packet for a CCW may be picked up at the Walker Police Department Records Bureau during regular business hours.
