The Assessing Department staff annually revalues over 7,000 residential and 1,000 commercial and industrial properties, and calculates over 1,300 personal property accounts. In the average year, we collect and analyze information on over 700 sale transactions, and assess 150 to 200 new residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. Together, the staff handles thousands of telephone inquiries and personal visits to the office each year. The Assessing Department maintains records of current ownership, assessed and taxable values, housing characteristics and market data, and this information is available to the public through our office. The City of Walker is the sixth largest by total SEV (State Equalized Value) in Kent County.
