The library offers materials for every age and every interest and our collection is only part of the story.  We also offer you the services of our staff of information specialists.  When you need a fact or figure, reference assistance or simply want help picking out a "good read," turn to the people behind the Information Desk.

Library cards are available free to those who live in the KDL service area and students attending area colleges. Please present identification showing your current address when you register.

Parents or legal guardians must sign registration forms for children under age 16.

KDL cards are good at any branch in the KDL system, at all Lakeland Library Cooperative libraries including the Grand Rapids Public Library, and at libraries throughout Michigan participating in the "Michicard" program.

    All library materials may be borrowed for a period of three weeks except for videos and magazines which may only be borrowed for 1 week.

    Materials from any Lakeland Library Cooperative may be requested and delivered to the KDL Walker branch on your behalf.

    Some materials have a rental fee.

    Fines for most items are $0.15 or day except for videos which cost $1.00 per day overdue.

    Internet Service-- All branches of the Kent District Library have computer workstations with access to the World Wide Web. Internet users must enter their library card number to access the Internet. Sessions are limited to 60 minutes per person per day. First-time users must read, and agree to abide by, the Library's Internet Use Policy. The Internet is filtered for users under 18. The Library does not provide e-mail accounts, but you may be able to check your e-mail at the Library

    Databases--The Library has a variety of online reference databases available for your use. Some of these resources are also available from your home or office PC.

    AskKDL-- Kent District Library’s e-mail reference service. We're accessible at all hours of the day and night and we'll deliver a response to your question direct to your desktop within 2-3 working days.

    Meeting Rooms-- Most branches of the Kent District Library have meeting rooms that may be booked for meetings. Meeting room policies are set by the local city or township in which the branch is located. Please call your local KDL branch to ask about meeting room availability.

    Photocopies-- All branches of the Kent District Library offer photocopiers for public use. Copies are 15 cents per page.
